Life Transitions and Losses

Throughout the course of our lives we experience many endings and beginnings, both predictable and unpredictable.

These events can strike without warning and leave us in a personal crisis or they may be planned and expected.  With each change, we leave something behind and adjust to a new way of living.  The goal is to reach a new phase of stability.  Often this process can leave people feeling fearful or anxious and therefore seek out therapy to help.

Life transitions can include:

  • Divorce
  • Retirement
  • Relocation
  • Serious Illness
  • Starting a career
  • The loss or change of a job
  • New role as a significant other
  • Significant loss of a person, pet, or anything important
  • Buying or selling a house
  • Leaving for college
  • Gender change

In therapy, I can help you grieve your losses and explore how these transitions give you a chance to learn about your strengths, and consider what you really want in life.
